Manager Pharmaeconomics (m/f)

With governmental benefit analyses for drugs having a focus on innovations, and manufacturers being obliged to prove the benefits of their products, pharmaeconomical positions are mostly found in research-conducting pharmaceutical companies.

The key tasks in such position include planning and conducting pharmacoeconomical studies and preparing the results for the purpose of using them for cost-benefit analyses, for instance, for reimbursement decisions.

Due to the increasing relevance of health and pharmacoeconomics in practically all areas of healthcare and the relatively low number of qualified health economists, job prospects for qualified pharmacists in this area are above average.

While pharmacists with their broad knowledge are very qualified for this kind of work in the pharmaceutical industry, the position of the manager pharmaeconomics (m/f) ist not a typical entry-level position. Often, work in this area requires combined experience from areas such as medical science, marketing, clinical testing or healthcare policy and also additional qualifications in health economics. Such additional qualification may either be gained trough a “training on the job” and accompanying seminars or through post-graduate studies, as offered in Germany by some universities and polytechnics.
